OUR BREATH MOVES LIFE THROUGH OUR BODIES
Breathwork is an ancient practice that may sound like an obvious component to our daily and long term health.. Breathing right? Simple enough. We have to do it and it gets done… Mostly on its own, right? Wrong.
We barely scratch the surface with the quality and proper levels of oxygen the body truly needs to thrive. Our brain alone needs 3x more oxygen than any other organ in our body. The brain needs a constant supply of oxygenated blood to carry out its many functions.
The brain coordinates thought, regulates emotion and behavior, directs movement and on top of output responsibilities, the brain has to sort through tons of feedback coming in from our periphery nervous system, all in the matter of seconds.
A LIFETIME OF LOW OXYGEN
Imagine having a long list of responsibilities and tasks to get done on your computer everyday. Your tasks require internet connection (in your brain’s case, oxygen) and yet you are only supplied with just barely what you need to log on and move from one task to the next but the speed is mediocre and the connection is spotty. (Just as we breathe shallow breaths throughout the day and sometimes hold our breath without realizing.)
In the case of slow internet speeds, you are guaranteed to have to prioritize certain tasks over others and you wouldn’t have the time to be a perfectionist. Your quality of work would be low because of your circumstances, but you are determined, so you get most of it done.
Over a lifetime of living with low oxygen levels, robbing our brains and bodies, it is no wonder we are seeing a huge influx in age related brain deterioration diseases, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Breathwork Training, Breathwork Meditation.
BY DEFINITION
Breathwork is consciously controlled breathing in order to enhance physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It truly is simple and yet, it is key to helping us cure headaches, brain fog, and anxiety NOW, while also safeguarding the brain against long-term irreversible cell damage.
Max Strom talks about breathwork on the TED stage and also gifts us with a simple breathing exercise (at 14:22..) to take part in NOW, because “..breathing makes a difference RIGHT AWAY, not some day.”
SOME HIGHLIGHTS I TOOK FROM STROM’S TALK:
- The defense department has recommended breath work for PTSD patients and the Navy Seals use breathwork and yoga.
- Meditation is a bit more advanced (and so many are trying to jump into it but feel it is not for them because they can’t seem to stop their mind from thinking thoughts) but if we begin with simple breathwork, more people might have success meditating.
- Grief is connected to our lungs so when we learn breathing exercises, some of our surpressed grief will surface.
